Multiple Teams · Harlem Wizards help Athletic Department Raise Money!

On Wednesday night, November 5, 2014 the Harlem Wizards took on the Gopher Gunners in basketball game.  The Wizards are team that travels the country with a brand of basketball that they call “trick hoops & alley oops”!  Members of the elementary, JH, and high school administration, faculty, and coaching staffs made up the team that represented our school.

The Clinton County Chamber of Commerce and MTC Sports helped sponsor this event.  Approximately 700 people were in attendance at the game and got their money’s worth.  There was a lot of laughing, cheering, and dancing throughout the 2 hour event.  The Wizards punctuated a large percentage of their posessions with thunderous and acrobatic dunks!  They also infused a large amount of hijinks throughout the evening by using props and crowd members in their act.

The Gopher Gunners were coached by long time principal and basketball coach Myron Chezem who had a very difficult job of getting all 21 players into the game.  Due to his coaching genius he employed the method of putting 6 players on the floor to get everyone into the game.  Boys basketball coach Ryne Smith electrified the crowd with some long range shooting as did elementary principal Joe Walker (aka Bill Clinton)!

The Wizards provided a great family-friendly evening for the CP community and we would highly recommend catching them when you can.  You can check out the students enjoying the making of a dance video with the Wizards by clicking on the link below. You can also purchase DVDs of the game by going to MTC Sports Website, a portion of the proceeds from the DVD sales will to to the CP Athletic Department.  There are also two photo gallerys on the home page of our website that you may view!  Thanks again to all who made this a spectacular night!
