The Clinton Prairie Boys Basketball team traveled across the county to take on Clinton Central on Friday night. It was all Gophers as the team jumped out to a 19-10 first quarter lead. The Gophers continued to torch the Bulldogs zone, hitting 9 of 18 three point attempts for the night, and added to their lead heading into halftime. The Clinton Prairie defense held the Bulldogs to 21 first half points and turned them over 10 times throughout the game. Clinton Prairie started the third quarter with four straight three pointers, two from Morris, against the Central zone. The Gophers handled the Bulldogs pressure and force as they coasted to the 77-55 win on the road.
The Gophers were lead by Kale Morris’ 20 points and six rebounds. Drew Scott scored 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting. Chase Joseph and Jacob Price each scored 11 points without missing a shot, a combined 9 for 9 shooting. Jared Stillwell scored 9 points, hitting 7 free throws. Doug Coapstick and Grant Ream both added three points, respectively. Rounding out the Gopher scoring was Kristian Peters and Merrick McGraw scoring two points each, respectively. Merrick McGraw spent the night finding the open Gophers, dishing 7 assists.
