Here are the latest news and notes from Prairie Athletics…

  • The Volleyball team finished 3-3 last week with victories over Tri-Central, Sheridan, and Lafayette Jeff. The girls played tough but were defeated by #3 McCutcheon and a ranked Central Catholic team during the week and also fell to Seeger in the CP Invite on Saturday. The Lady Gophers finished 2nd in the invite. This week their lone match is at Frontier on Thursday. The Junior High Volleyball team opens play tonight as they host Fountain Central. They also split locations with Southwestern on Wednesday with 8th grade hosting the Wildcats. Both teams participate in their Early Bird Invitational on Saturday morning. The Elementary girls also open play this week.
  • The Girls Golf team was defeated by North Montgomery but defeated Attica last week. The girls travel to Attica Tuesday of this week before hosting Eastern for their final home match of the year on Thursday. Their conference meet is Saturday at Angel Hill in Rossville and Sectionals are Monday, September 23 at Coyote Crossing in West Lafayette.
  • The Cross Country teams competed in the Brownsburg Invitational on Saturday and had another great morning for running. This week they travel to Eastern on Tuesday before running in the County meet on Saturday at Clinton Central. The Junior High travels to Attica on Wednesday and also competes in the County tournament on Saturday at CC.
  • The Football team pounded Clinton Central 47-13 in what was expected to be a close game. The Gophers improved to 2-1 on the season and host Tri-Central this Friday at home. Yes, finally a home game! It also happens to be Homecoming. Tiny’s Tailgate Grill will be open for business by 6pm and will once again have pork burgers, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and fries available. Kona Ice will also be there. The JV travels to Central tonight while the 3-0 JH team is off this week with Central not having enough players for a team.
