Here are the latest news and notes from Prairie Athletics:

  • Seniors Melody Tolley and Rebekah Lloyd finished 1-2 in the girls County Meet hosted by Clinton Central this weekend. The girls team finished second overall, while the boys finished third. Zoe Beard also finished in the top 10 for the girls while Logan Barrett and Braden Martin finished in the top 10 for the Boys. Both teams will compete in the New Prairie Invitational this Saturday. The Junior Teams also competed in the County Meet with the girls finishing tied for second and the boys finishing 2nd.
  • The Football team turned in another good performance in front of a big crowd by defeating HHC foe Tri-Central 40-21 on Homecoming. The Gophers improved to 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in the conference. Up next is a big road test at Sheridan Friday night before coming back home to host Delphi on Youth Football Night. The JV hosts Tri-Central Monday night at home and the Junior High hosts Tri-Central Tuesday night at home.
  • The Volleyball team won their only match last week on the road at Frontier in another thrilling 5-set match. The Gophers travel to Tri-County tonight, host Sheridan Tuesday, travel to Taylor on Thursday, and compete in the Lafayette Jeff Invite on Saturday. The Junior High volleyball team hosted the Early Bird Invite on Saturday. They travel to Sheridan on Monday and host WeBo on Tuesday. The Elementary Volleyball team hosts St. Lawrence on Tuesday and Rossville on Thursday.
  • The Girls Golf team suffered a three stroke loss to Eastern on Senior Night Thursday before finishing 4th in the HHC Meet on Saturday at Rossville. Up next for the girls is Sectionals on Monday, September 23rd. The meet is hosted at Coyote Crossing and tees off at 11am.
