Here are the latest news and notes from Prairie Athletics…

  • The Track and Field teams are in full swing with two meets last week. The Gophers traveled to Eastern on Tuesday night, where the girls finished a close second to Eastern and defeated Taylor. The Boys track faced a similar fate, finishing 2nd to Eastern. On Thursday, both the Girls and Boys teams defeated Frontier and Faith Christian. This week the Gophers will run Monday night at Crawfordsville and Thursday at home versus Sheridan and Traders Point. Senior Night is Thursday and will begin at roughly 4:45pm.
  • The Baseball team had an impressive week by claiming four victories. The Gophers swept the HHC opening series against Sheridan with 12-0 and 16-8 wins. Landen Southern threw his second consecutive perfect game in the first game against Sheridan. The Gophers then defeated Cardinal Ritter on Thursday and Tri-County on Friday. The Gophers play Rossville (Tuesday at RHS and Wednesday at CP) and Eastern (DH Saturday at CP) in conference play this week and remain ranked in the 2A polls, which should be released later today. Senior Night will be Saturday.
  • The Softball team split a pair of games last week picking up a 5-4 victory of Faith Christian on Senior Night and dropping a 9-1 game against Harrison. This week the Gophers will play at Rossville on Tuesday night and host Eastern for a DH on Saturday.
  • The Boys Golf team participated in one meet last week and dropped a close match to Rossville with Evan Marty pacing the Gophers. This week the boys will host Frontier and Faith Christian on Tuesday and travel to Hamilton Heights on Thursday.
