The Clinton Prairie Lady Gophers nabbed the lead late in the game in a 12-11 victory over Tri-County on Monday. The game was tied at 11 with Clinton Prairie batting in the top of the seventh when Victoria Florence singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
CP earned the victory despite allowing Tri-County to score six runs in the fifth inning.
In the first inning, Clinton Prairie got their offense started when Bailee Lacosse induced Molly Thomas to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Maddie Cornell got the start for Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity. She surrendered ten runs on 11 hits over five innings, striking out four and walking zero. Hannah Wilson took over in the 6th, allowing 1 run. 1 walk, and 1 strike out, the last out of 7th inning to end the game.
Lacosse was in the circle for Tri-County. She allowed 15 hits and 12 runs over seven innings, striking out two.
Clinton Prairie totaled 15 hits. Thomas, Hannah Wilson, Cam Cornell, Shalynn Barnett, Layne Snyder, and Hadley Wilson all had multiple hits for Clinton Prairie. Thomas led Clinton Prairie with three hits in four at bats. Clinton Prairie will face Frontier in the first game Wed. in the semi-finals of the sectional.
