Clinton Prairie lost the lead late in a 9-2 defeat to Clinton Central on Saturday. The game was tied at one with Clinton Central batting in the top of the eighth, with the International Tie Breaker rule in place, a runner starts on 2nd base, when Gomez tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
The Clinton Prairie struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Clinton Central, giving up nine runs.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Clinton Prairie tied things up at one when Katelyn Ramsey hit a solo homer.
Perkins led things off on the rubber for Clinton Central. She surrendered one run on four hits over eight innings, striking out three.
Rebekah Stephens started the game for Clinton Prairie. She allowed 12 hits and eight runs over eight innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Clinton Prairie tallied one home run on the day. Ramsey went yard in the sixth inning.
Hannah Wilson, Cam Cornell, Ramsey, and Layne Snyder each collected one hit to lead Clinton Prairie.
Clinton Central tallied 12 hits in the game. Mennen, Whitcomb, and Buzan each racked up multiple hits for Clinton Central. Mennen went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Clinton Central in hits.
