With Holly On The Mound, Clinton Prairie Shuts Out Carroll.
Holly Loveless had all the right stuff on Thursday for the Clinton Prairie Lady Gophers, allowing zero runs and besting Carroll by a score of 13-0
Cam Cornell led Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity to victory by driving in five runs. She went 2-for-4 at the plate. Cornell drove in runs on a grand slam in the fifth.
The Lady Gophers got things moving in the first inning. Kylie Burris singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Clinton Prairie then tallied six runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught by Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity was led by Katelyn Ramsey, Peyton Ray, Loveless, Cornell, Hannah Wilson, and Layne Snyder, all driving in runs in the inning.
One bright spot for Carroll was a double by K Hammond in the second inning.
Loveless took the win for Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity. She surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out 13 and walking one.
H Duffer took the loss for Carroll. She surrendered 13 runs on 11 hits over four and a third innings.
The Lady Gophers collected 11 hits. Loveless, Burris, and Cornell each racked up multiple hits for CP. Loveless led Prairie with three hits in four at bats. The Lady Gophers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Cornell made the most plays with 13.
Hammond went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Carroll in hits. CP is now 5-3 and 3-0 in the Hoosier Heartland Conference
