Clinton Prairie Lady Gophers defeated North Montgomery 13-2 on Monday thanks to a timely nine runs in a big third inning. The big inning was thanks to walks by Cam Cornell and Rylee Ward, a triple by Molly Thomas, a single by Layne Snyder, by Burris, an error on a ball put in play by Holly Loveless, and a double by Katelyn Bollar.
The Lady Gophers got on the board in the first inning. CP scored one run on a stolen base.
Clinton Prairie the tallied nine runs in the third inning. Thomas, Snyder, Loveless, Cornell, Burris, and Ward powered the big inning with RBIs.
Rebekah Stephens led things off on the rubber for Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity. She went 4 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out six and walking zero.
A Holder toed the rubber for North Montgomery. She surrendered seven runs on ten hits over two and a third innings. M Hall and M Hayes entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.
Clinton Prairie collected 14 hits on the day. Loveless, Snyder, and Burris all had multiple hits for Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity. Loveless led Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity with three hits in four at bats. Loveless led Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity with two stolen bases. Loveless pitched the 5th inning striking out 3 and ending the game. CP improves to 6-3 and face conference rival Eastern.
