Clinton Prairie Lady Gophers Blows Out Rossville in the Clinton County Tournament!
Thanks To Big Fourth Inning, seven runs in the fourth inning led Clinton Prairie Gophers past Rossville 12-4 on Friday. Kinze Funk, Burris, Cam Cornell, and Shalynn Barnett all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity opened up scoring in the second inning when an error scored one run for Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity.
Rossville knotted the game up at two in the top of the third inning. Baumgardt singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
The Clinton Prairie Lady Gophers took the lead for good with seven runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Funk singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Burris singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Clinton Prairie, and Barnett doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Holly Loveless toed the rubber for Clinton Prairie. She allowed nine hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out eight.
Baumgardt was in the pitcher’s circle for Rossville. She allowed six hits and 12 runs over six innings, striking out four and walking zero.
Loveless went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity in hits.
Rossville totaled nine hits. Underwood, Deboy, and Taylor all had multiple hits for Rossville. CP wins the Clinton County Tourney. CP is now 12-7
