Clinton Prairie Lady Gophers Claims Victory Over West Lafayette In Blow-Out Fashion, 14-1
Clinton Prairie had all cylinders firing on offense on Tuesday, winning big over West Lafayette 14-1
CP opened up scoring in the first inning, when Holly Loveless doubled on a 3-0 count, scoring two runs.
The Lady Gophers tallied five runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to an error on a ball put in play by Layne Snyder and Loveless, a single by K Burris, and a double by Peyton Ray.
Loveless led things off in the circle for Clinton Prairie. She lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out eight.
A Steffey toed the rubber for West Lafayette. She went two innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out two. P Hillcboe and M MacDonald entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and two innings respectively.
Clinton Prairie racked up 13 hits. Cam Cornell, Ray, and Burris each had multiple hits for CP. Burris, Ray, and Cornell each collected two hits to lead Clinton Prairie Gophers Varsity. Shalynn Barnett had yet another double play on the defense, her 7th of the season. With bases loaded in the 7th, Hadley Wilson got a huge lead off 1st base and the W. Lafayette catcher decided she would pick her off, that resulted in confusion at 1st base, that allowed 2 runs to cross home and Hadley ended up on 3rd.
P Adams led West Lafayette with two hits in three at bats. CP is now 14-7.
